Lighting design has both practical and aesthetic benefits. It can mark a safe path or add security to potentially dangerous places, but it can also bring life to the night garden. We can paint a landscape with washes of moonlight and eliminate the "black hole" effect of uncurtained windows after dark. Trees can be lit to throw shadows on a wall, or to highlight the canopy like a rare sculpture. Carefully selected lamps and lenses allow us to tune color and quality, avoiding the harshness and invasivness of typical floodlights.
